Happy Thanksgiving!

EN: As a personal shopper, my life around thanksgiving is hectic. I work more, I sleep less, and I stretch myself thin trying to be a mom and a wife and to do my job. But this smiley face makes it all worth it. He is the most patient and understanding person I know despite being only one year old. I look back to this time in 2014 when he was a three week old newborn and I had mastitis and prayed to survive through Black Friday hoping my body would stop throbbing and my fever would finally break, wondering how I will ever be able to breastfeed. 

And now a year later we did it! 

We're still nursing, growing so fast, successfully balancing work and motherhood. I'm so proud of how far we have come. And so grateful for my husband and my parents for helping me every day. Tonight I am feeling blessed to be a mommy of such a wonderful boy! 👶

RU: Конец Ноября для меня самое занятое время года. Я много работаю, мало сплю и буквально разрываюсь между ребенком, домом и работой. Но эта замечательная, улыбчивая мордашка того стоит! Николай - самый терпеливый человечек которого я знаю, не смотря на то что ему всего годик. Сейчас я вспоминаю, как, год назад, я, с новорожденным на руках, маститом и температурой под сорок, пыталась работать и не представляла, как я вообще с этим всем буду справлятся. 

Но, оказалось что все у меня получится! 

И грудью кормить, и работать, и самое главное - получать от всего этого удовольствие! Благодаря мужу, моим родителям и конечно же моему замечательному сыну, с каждым днем баланс между работой и семейной жизнью приходит в норму, даже в такое сумашедшее для меня время года. Завтра Черная Пятница и я конечно же погрязну в работе. Но сегодня, в День Благодарения, я безмерна благодарна за все, что у меня есть!

Benefits of Sleep Training

I wrote something after putting my son to bed tonight. Sleep training has always been a controversial topic, but it worked for us since Nicky was 5 months old.

For those of you on the fence about sleep training, please consider this:

You are a tiny growing six months old. Just not too long ago you were laying down on your back staring up at weird shapes and forms that didn't make sense, and all of a sudden the world grew bigger. You can now flip over to your tummy and see it from a whole new perspective. Your muscles ache from straining to sit up and maybe even crawl. Your bones hurt from growing. Your gums are swollen and teeth are trying to make their way into your mouth. And your little head is overwhelmed from trying to make sense of it all...

How to Help a Teething Baby

Nicky is the master of teething. His first tooth broke at four months, followed quickly by three more. By the time he was six months, he had six teeth. A month ago, before he turned one, he started teething again, and this time it was his first molars - all four of them. Although a month later, there are still no new teeth in sight, Nicky is remaining strong. And chewing away :) Thanks to grandma and Amazon, we have tried a myriad of teething toys and here is our review.

He's One!

EN: Last night I nursed my infant for the last time. I gave him a bath and wrapped him in his green froggy towel. I sang him a song, read him a book and gave him a million kisses before putting him down in his crib. I told him I love him and crept out of his room. Quietly, I shut the door. Sank to the floor in the hallway. And wept silently.

This morning when he wakes up he will be One years old. I will give him a million kisses, hug him tightly and sing him a silly good morning song. I will cuddle him and tickle him. It will be like every other morning except it won't be. I will nurse him while laying in bed as always. But he won't be an infant anymore. He will be a rambunctious and strong-willed toddler. It will be a new day and a beginning of a new chapter for us. 

This year went by too quickly. I already miss the tiny little human being placed in my arms a year ago in the hospital. I miss his first smile, his first grasp, his first steps. We have so much more ahead of us. But so much is now behind us. My sweet little boy has turned one years old. I'm so proud of him. I'm so blessed to have him. And I cannot wait to see what the next year will bring!



RU: Вчера вечером, я покормила своего малыша перед сном. Я искупала его и завернула в зеленое полотенце с капюшоном в форме лягушки. Я спела ему песенку, прочитала книжку и тысячу раз поцеловала перед тем как положить в кроватку. Я сказала ему, что люблю его, пожелала спокойной ночи и тихонечко вышла из комнаты. Еле слышно притворила дверь. Села на пол в коридоре. И разревелась.

Сегодня утром, когда он проснется, ему будет Годик. Я снова его зацелую, крепко обниму и спою ему песенку о добром утре. я залезу с ним в кровать и буду его щекотать пока он кушает, буду слушать как он смеется и балдеть от счастья. Это будет самое обычно утро. Но оно будет совсем другое. Он больше не будет младенцем, теперь ему годик. Сегодня начнется новая глава в нашей с ним жизни.

Год пролетел нереально быстро. Вроде совсем недавно мне на грудь положили комочек человеческого счастья, и вот он уже бегает. Первая улыбка. Первые шажки. Первое "мама". Все это останется в том году. Я буду очень скучать за этими днями. И с нетерпением жду что будет дальше :)

EN: I failed as a new mom. My kid is going to be one year old in a few days and I have to admit my failure. Yes, he can sit, stand, crawl and walk. He's got eight teeth. He eats solids and sleeps through the night.

But this isn't about him.

It's about me.
